A “POPULAR, thoughtful and kind-hearted” teenager has died after she was stabbed at a house in Ampthill at the weekend.
Megan-Leigh Peat, of Flitwick Road, Westoning, was found dead in Ailesbury Road in the early hours of Saturday.
Police cordoned off the area and launched a murder investigation.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, and was admitted to hospital for injuries he had suffered. He was released from hospital into police custody. He was due to be interviewed by police yesterday afternoon.
He has been named on other news websites as Stoke City Football Club player Andrew Hall, but this has not been confirmed by police.
Devastated friends and family have been leaving tributes outside the house all week.
One read: “Well, where do I start? I cannot believe you are gone, my heart is broken into a million pieces. You did not deserve this. You weren’t just a lovely girl, you were a kind-hearted thoughtful person, and as long as everybody else was happy, you’d be happy.”
A tribute from Megan’s dad Dave Peat read: “Meggy, no-one can hurt you now baby. You’ve been through hell, but now you’re in heaven. And safe from evil, may justice be done. Love you lots and always. Dad xx”
The 15-year-old Harlington Upper School pupil had gone to the property, which belonged to a mutual friend, with an 18-year-old male, having spent the evening with him at various pubs in Flitwick and Ampthill.
Shawn Fell, headteacher at Harlington Upper School, described Megan as a popular girl with many friends.
He said: “It was with great sadness that we received the news of the death of our pupil, Megan Peat, over the weekend.
“The death of any young person is a tragedy and everyone at the school feels deeply the loss of one of our own. At this terrible time our thoughts are with Megan’s family.
“She was a popular girl with many friends at Harlington Upper School. All our students are being supported in school with advice, guidance and counselling.
“As time goes by, we will of course be thinking of ways that the school can create a lasting tribute.”
Neighbour and businessman Peter Cleevely, who owns Picture Corner in the town, said: “The whole town is in shock.”
