VINTAGE vehicle enthusiasts are in for a treat when Vauxhall showcases its private collection of historic cars to the public.

The firm will be throwing open the doors to its Heritage Centre on Sunday, June 12, for its annual open day.

This year the open day will coincide with the Luton Festival of Transport at Stockwood Park. A range of cars will be on display, dating back to the Prince Henry, the first true sports car, which celebrates its centenary in 2011. There will also be an opportunity to see the just-launched new VXR8.

Entry to Vauxhall’s Heritage Centre in Park Street is free, and visitors will be able to view the company’s collection of over 50 Vauxhall veteran, vintage and classic cars including a number of unique concept cars.

The collection ranges from the first Vauxhall of 1903 through to the popular classics such as the Chevette HSR, Astra MK2 GTE and the popular Lotus Carlton.

The Heritage Collection is carefully preserved by the company’s dedicated heritage team who ensure the cars are kept fully roadworthy and in fine fettle.

The latest ground-up restoration, the 1975 Vauxhall HP Firenza ‘Droop Snoot’, will make its debut on the open day, and there will also be activities for children. The event runs from 10am to 5pm.
