A BOYBAND from Luton are hoping to impress judges at the Open Mic UK regionals in Bedford on Sunday.

After appearing on this year’s X Factor, Brooklyn have gone from strength to strength, touring local schools and spending time in the studio recording and writing new material.

Jaymi Hensley, 21, J Brock, 25, and Billy Ashley, 24, formed just days before their initial X Factor audition, and the Open Mic show will be their first public appearance since the Boot Camp stage of the ITV show.

Billy said: “We have been rehearsing loads, and we’ve been in the studio working with a guy who wrote songs for Peter Andre and The Saturdays. On Sunday we’re going to sing Kiss From A Rose. It’s a slower song but we wanted to show off our vocals.

“I think we’re the only boyband in our category so hopefully that will give us an advantage.”

Former Putteridge High School student Jaymi got through to the finals of last year’s Open Mic competition and hopes he will do even better with the boys.

The group are hoping lots of their friends and family will be supporting them at the live show at the Corn Exchange to give them the best chance of getting through to the next stage.
