AN alien spaceship crash-landed on Chantry Primary School’s playing field yesterday morning.
Excited pupils at the Lewsey Farm school turned investigators at the mysterious scene, unaware that the event was an elaborate hoax.
The Year Six teaching team used scrap metal, old microwaves, smoke and slime to make a convincing crash site, as part of the school’s creative curriculum.
Year Six head Jamie Kelly said: “Some of the children have sussed us out but it’s still a great way to engage them in the space topic.
“They will remember what happened and we will incorporate it into our science, music and English lessons on space and beyond over the next few weeks.”
Bedfordshire Police and BBC Three Counties Radio were at the scene along with Luton Sixth Form College performing arts students posing as forensic detectives.
Mr Kelly said an alien egg and a DVD showing images of the crash were also hidden in the school.
Tito Ogedengbe, 17, a student acting as an undercover police officer, said: “I’ve never done anything like this before but hopefully my character will be believable for the children.
“I heard some of them talking excitedly about what has happened so I think they are convinced. It has been a fun morning.”
