ACCORDING to Luton’s musical cognoscenti, Tim Ridout is a name to remember.
Those in-the-know reckon it won’t be long before it’s topping billboards across the nation.
The talented 16-year-old Cardinal Newman pupil has already won critical acclaim and a raft of awards.
He is making his debut appearance as a soloist with the Putteridge Festival Orchestra at a Vauxhall Riverside Suite concert tomorrow (July 21).
The Royal Academy of Music junior department student started playing the viola when he was eight.
But his affinity really clicked in after a demonstration where the instrument was played and explained.
“That’s when I started to practice properly,” he said. He’s determined to get 10,000 hours under his belt so he can become totally proficient and carve himself a career as a performer.
The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, is being directed by his father Nick, a former professional musician now head of music at Putteridge High School. Tim’s cellist mum Caroline and oboe-playing sister Rachel, 12, are also appearing.
Tickets cost £8 each and are available from 01582 415791.
