FRIENDS have paid tribute to a “loyal and popular” man who suffered from a heart condition.
Former Luton Borough Council worker Gary Tully was found by his brother in the River Great Ouse at Kelpie Marine in Roxton on Saturday, June 25, after concerns were raised when nobody had seen or spoken to him for more than a week.
Gary, who was brought up in Luton, underwent a heart transplant when he was 29 years old. At the time medics told him he only had 10 years to live.
The 45-year-old had lived at on a house boat at the marine for around a year.
Close friend Carl North said: “It was a huge shock when I found out what had happened. He was a top bloke, we did everything together. We just got on so well.
“We just clicked straight away. He had so many friends and it wasn’t strange for us not to talk for a couple of weeks, so I didn’t think anything of it when I hadn’t heard from him.
“He will be very missed.”
