HATTERS manager Gary Brabin hailed goalkeeper Mark Tyler after his penalty save during Town’s Blue Square Bet Premier play-off victory over Wrexham last night, writes Mike Simmonds.
With 20 minutes on the clock, and Town trailing 1-0 on the night, the Red Dragons won a spot-kick when Dan Gleeson handled in the box.
The alarm bells were already sounding for Hatters after Wrexham had dominated the opening stages and, had Gareth Taylor made it 2-0, the visitors would have been just 3-2 behind on aggregate with 70 minutes left.
But player of the season Tyler guessed the right way to repel Taylor’s weak effort as Town went on to win 2-1, and 5-1 over the two legs.
Brabin said: “He’s a top quality goalkeeper Mark Tyler. He’s got a number two behind him, Kevin Pilkington, who’s a top quality goalkeeper too.”
