A MAN carrying a ‘re-enactment spear’ sparked a police alert on Monday (May 9).
Beds Police received a call from a woman in Mentmore Crescent, Dunstable, saying she had seen a man going into a field carrying what she thought was a rifle.
Squad cars were dispatched to the area and the police helicopter was scrambled, and after locating the man in a vehicle officers pulled him over in London Road, Luton.
They then followed to his home in the centre of Luton and the helicopter continued to hover overhead while his home was checked.
A police spokesman said: “It turned out to be a re-enactment spear which was used as a gardening tool.”
