A BURY PARK businessman has a very special reason for supporting next Friday’s concert by ‘King of Bhangra’ Malkit Singh.

Two of Mohammed Nadeem’s own children have been cared for at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which the concert is raising money for.

Mr Nadeem said: “One of my sons was seven weeks premature – the team at the NICU were just unbelievable.

“It is a very scary time for parents but the staff are so professional, they know everyone personally and the treatment they give is fantastic.”

He said the fundraising target for the night is £100,000, but that the night is also aimed at bringing the community together.

“As a local businessman I really want to give something back to the community, especially as so many children in Luton are treated at the NICU,” he said.

Malkit Singh is the biggest-selling bhangra star of all time, and has made 35 albums with his band, Golden Star.

The May 18 concert, at Venue Central in Leagrave Road, includes at three-course meal, and will be the first time the star has performed in Luton.

For tickets call the L&D’s fundraising team on 01582 718043.
