From Holland to Hungary

A LUTON design manager is cycling 1,400 miles from Holland to Hungary as part of a double birthday whammy in aid of Keech Hospice Care.

David Felcher, 29, (above right) of Dunstable Road said the charity challenge he’s undertaking with his old friend Darryl Fenn, 31, of Marsh Farm is to celebrate Keech’s 21st anniversary and his own 30th birthday on July 17.

He said: “We wanted to put something back and we wanted to make it something big because it’s the Olympics just before we go.

“We chose the hospice because it’s local.

“Darryl’s nan was looked after there and we particularly hope to help the children.” David’s parents are Hungarian.

“I’ve got an emotional connection and I speak the language,” he explained. “We’ll finish our ride at Lake Balaton, the largest fresh water lake in Europe.

“It’s absolutely gorgeous, a really really nice place to go.”

The pedalling pair have planned the route with military precision.

David said: “We’re doing the distance in 70 miles chunks every day, camping along the way which will give us more flexibility.

“But we’re going to be carrying everything we need so that will be tough.”
