Beating the bullies is as easy as ABC

YOUNGSTERS at Luton’s Sacred Heart Primary School have got a special excursion lined up – a visit to Google HQ in London.

Members of the Langford Drive school’s anti-bullying club (ABC) were given the surprise news on Tuesday by singer Rachel Furner, known as ‘Tich’, who has toured with the likes of Pixie Lott and Justin Bieber.

The school has been part of a nationwide government anti-bullying programme run by the Diana Award charity, which kicked off with a training event in Milton Keynes three years ago.

Ever since then they have been ensuring their school remains bullying-free and a safe place to learn.

At the Google event, 10 anti-bullying teams from across the UK will share their anti-bullying practice with an audience of special guests.

Sacred Heart head Joan Cullen said: “Although this has been an area we as a staff have always addressed, we feel the strength of the ABC is that it is run by children, for children.

“Our pupils hear a lot from adults and this is great, but peer pressure is a powerful force.”
