A DOCTOR from Luton was recognised for his hard work with a national award from Care UK.
Rafid Aziz was given the Quality Improvement Award in Care UK’s annual awards, which honours its top–performing healthcare professionals and teams across the country.
Dr Aziz is based at the Luton and Bedfordshire out-of-hours service and has worked for Care UK for more than five years.
He was credited with the success of the health centre’s training programme which has now been approved to continue for the next three years by the East of England Post-graduate Deanery.
Dr Aziz said: “Putting the training process in place required a great deal of planning, however the consistently positive feedback and popularity of the scheme proves all the work was worth it.
“Instructing the trainees can be challenging at times, however it is undeniably a very rewarding process and it is great to be in a position to help and educate younger members of the Care UK team. The training system plays an extremely important role in ensuring that all patients receive the best possible care and that our high treatment standards here are maintained.”
Since Dr Aziz’s training structure was established, the level of applications to the service has increased so much, there is now a waiting list.
Steve Hinch, who manages the Luton and Bedfordshire out-of-hours service, said: “Rafid deserves all the credit for the success of the training programme and the consistently high achievement of our young GPs. Thanks to him, we have been revalidated for a further three years to accept and train students.
“Maintaining the highest quality of service is a priority for us, and Rafid’s work really demonstrates how we’re constantly improving our standards and guaranteeing that patients have the best experience possible.”
