A CORONER has returned his verdict on the death of a popular salsa dancer.
Maria Garcia, 45, of Coltsfoot Green, Luton, underwent knee surgery at the private Spire Hospital in Harpenden on Friday, August 13 last year.
But two days later she went to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital suffering from extreme pains in her leg, and died later the same day from necrotising fasciitis.
Dunstable coroner David Morris recorded a narrative verdict that Miss Garcia had ‘died from a rare but known infection following elective surgery which was not recognised on her admission to hospital’.
