A COUPLE who were faced with losing their home are now happy in a new–build bungalow in Caddington.
Angela Moss and her partner Glyn Jones are one of 12 households to benefit from a new housing development from Jephson Homes Housing Association, in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council.
They lived above a supermarket for 18 years but when their landlord decided to sell their flat they were worried about finding somewhere new nearby.
Angela said: “I used to work in Caddington and my son lives here so we really didn’t want to move away.
“I’ve also lived in Slip End for 17 years so we were able to meet all the criteria to apply. We are so lucky to have this bungalow. The workmanship is superb, and the attention to detail spot on. Being a new build it’s nice and warm, and we don’t hear the family next door at all.”
According to the National Housing Federation, housing associations are providing the bulk of new homes, having built 36 per cent of all those completed in the region last year. House prices are currently at more than nine times the average regional income.
Karen Newman from Jephson East said: “This development is a great example of how we are working with partners to meet housing needs in rural areas, and make a real difference to individuals who would otherwise struggle to stay in an area that they know and love. By working together with local authorities we can help to provide quality, affordable housing to people who need it most.”
