BEDS Police bobbies are donning boxing gloves to help raise money for Help for Heroes in Luton next month.

Officers from around the county will be taking on counterparts from the Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service in the charity bouts at Liquid nightclub, in Gordon Street, on May 21

Proceeds from the event will go to the organisation which supports servicemen and women who have been wounded in Iraq.

Captain of the police team, Det Sgt Ryan Brammer, said: “There will be 30 people entering the competition flying the flag for their own organisations, but our aim is the same and that is to raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile charity.

“Any help and support the public can give will be greatly appreciated.”

Tickets cost £15 in advance with limited on the door entry priced at £20.

Military personnel presenting ID get in for free.

Doors open at 5.30pm with the fights starting at 6.30pm.

Tickets are available from Liquid & Envy by calling 01582 405388.
