A NEW campaign is encouraging people over 50 who have had an unexplained cough for three weeks or more to visit their GP, as it could be an early symptom of lung cancer.
The campaign has just been launched in Bedfordshire, and health chiefs say the chances of recovering from lung cancer are higher if the disease is caught early.
Other symptoms are persistent chest infections, shortness of breath or coughing up blood.
Bedfordshire GP Dr Kay Elliott said: “It is important to get possible symptoms checked out because cancer caught early is easier to treat or cure.”
