SIX men attacked a 25-year-old in an attempted robbery on Tuesday (January 31).

The incident happened at around 6.45pm in Old Bedford Road, Luton, when the victim was walking away from the town centre.

The group of males punched him in the back of the head and face while trying and failing to take a rucksack he was carrying.

Det Con Jo Bosson said: “This was a particularly nasty and violent assault which has left the victim very upset. We know that there were members of the public close to the incident when it took place and I would urge them to come forward to help us find the offenders and stop them from committing further offences.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was nearby at the time of the robbery, or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us. Don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”

The victim was left shaken by the incident and unable to offer any sort of a description of his attackers although he did say that the man who punched him several times to the face was wearing a very distinctive blue jacket.

If you have information relating to this incident, contact DC Bosson, in confidence, on 01582 473152, the non emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
