Girls’ fundraiser for African adventure

STUDENTS from Challney High School for Girls are raising money for the adventure of a lifetime with a table top sale on Saturday (December 3).

Nine girls, aged from 12 to 15, are planning to travel across Marrakech in Africa during Easter 2012.

They will be trecking through mountains on a 12 day expedition and helping the needy local community in the traditional Berber village of Aroumd, which is under Jbel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa.

For the treck through the mountains the girls have to carry with them everything they need, and they are already planning their rations.

The remote mountain range of Jbel Sarhro is scarcely inhabited and the girls are expecting to see few other signs of life apart from semi-nomadic tribesmen and their flocks of goats and sheep.

Anyone interested in reserving a pitch at the table top sale should contact Mrs Carroll at the school on 01582 571427.

Table tops, provided by the school, are £7, plus £2 if you want to bring an additional clothes rail.

Admission for the event is £1 on the door on the day.
