A DEDICATED squad of police and council staff has been put together to crackdown on anti-social behaviour in Luton.

The new Priority Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Team was launched at the public summit of soLUTiONs, Luton’s Community Safety Partnership, last Wednesday.

The squad will help victims of anti-social behaviour and ensure that cases are dealt with in a timely, supportive and professional way as well as help to assure residents about measures in place to tackle nuisance behaviour.

The new team includes community safety officers, police community support officers and a victim and witnesses champion.

All cases will be carefully assessed and prioritised. Priority cases will be those where the incident is considered very serious and/or the circumstances of the victim means they are vulnerable and unable to protect themselves from the harm anti-social behaviour can cause.

Councillor Tafheen Sharif said: “Throughout the entire process, the focus will always be on the victim and their well being and they will be kept fully updated. A special case manager will be assigned to all victims, and they will offer access to support and advice. Cases will be investigated thoroughly and the team will take robust action to stop ASB occurring.”

To report anti-social behaviour call Bedfordshire Police on 101 or Luton Borough Council on 01582 556629. To find out more see www.luton.gov.uk/solutions.
